Are You Afraid of the Dark? Three Part Revival Announced

afraid of dark snick revival

Nickelodeon has created a three-part limited revival of the classic Are You Afraid of the Dark? for young viewers, and the cast has finally been revealed, along with plot details.

The plot involves an entirely new Midnight Society group of kids who tell a terrifying tale about the Carnival of Doom, only to have the events of the story come to life. The new Midnight Society members are Gavin (Sam Ashe Arnold), Akiko (Miya Cech), Louise (Tamara Smart), Graham (Jeremy Taylor) and Rachel (Lyliana Wray). Casal will play a character named Mr. Tophat, the ringmaster of the Carnival of Doom.

The Are You Afraid of the Dark movie is no longer opening in October as Deadline cites “behind-the-scene changes” as part of the reason for the delay.

The original Are You Afraid of the Dark? ran from 1990 to 1996, and then for a second run from 1999 to 2000. This spooky anthology series for kids recounts ghost stories told by the young members of the Midnight Society as they gather around a campfire. Each episode opens with members of the Midnight Society at their secret spot in the woods, where they prepare their fire and the night's storyteller announces the title of the his or her offering. However, the cameras soon leave the storyteller and switch to the tale being told.

Nickelodeon plans to release the limited series this October.
