Released in 2011 Goon stars American Pie actor Seann William Scott in the role of Doug “The Thug” Glatt – a dimwitted bouncer turned minor league hockey player who becomes an all-star enforcer in Canada. The original sports comedy was co-written by frequent Seth Rogen cohorts Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg, and managed to become something of a sleeper hit with general audiences.

Following the generally positive critical reception that met the first film in the series, Goon: The Last of the Enforcers has been in the works since 2015, with most of the original cast and characters returning and Baruchel taking his first turn in the director’s chair.

Originally released in Canada on March 17th it seemed that a US release date would be right around the corner. Well, it finally is and it isn't. US fans of the Goon saga can now rejoice as we have a release date for the states but the downside is that it's quite a ways away.

Goon 2: Last of the Enforcers will hit US theaters and digital platforms on September 1, 2017.

In Goon 2 A lockout has reunited old teammates and brought a crew of new players to the bench for the Halifax Highlanders. Sidelined after one too many hits and now married with a baby on the way, Doug "The Thug" Glatt hangs up his skates and settles into life as an insurance salesman. But when Doug's nemesis, Anders Cain, is made captain of the Highlanders and new ownership threatens to tear his team apart, Doug is compelled back into action.
