The Marvel Cinematic Universe is hit and miss. Sometimes it's perfect (Winter Soldier) and sometimes it's not (Age of Ultron), but Marvel's Netflix shows have been nothing but fantastic. From Daredevil to Jessica Jones not one episode has fell flat and now Daredevil Season 2 has hit a mark that seemed unattainable in the MU.

Daredevil Season 2 has stepped up its game with the addition of Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher. Punisher has been a hard nut to crack for Marvel and after 3 unsuccessful attempts to bring the character to life (personally I liked them all) they may have just hit gold with Jon Bernthal's portrayal of Frank Castle.

Unlike previous attempts Bernthal had the ability to flesh the character out over 13 hours and not be confined to a 120 minute runtime. This extra time allows the viewer to really get into the head of Castle and understand how and why he evolves into The Punisher. But it's not just the minutia of the character, it is the man behind the character that draws you in and Jon Bernthal delivers in Spades.

Bernthal's performance is perfect in every way, from the raw emotion when he is talking about his family to the unbridled rage in his attacks, you can't help but feel for the character. Bernthal has finally proved that the character of The Punisher can work, it just needs to be in a serialized format.

I hope this isn't the last we see of Bernthal as The Punisher and maybe, just maybe, there might be a Punisher solo series just around the corner.
