"Familiar" Short Film Making Done Right (Review)
I love when I'm asked to review a short film. First being I never in a million years thought someone would care about my opinion, second it gives me a chance to watch something that may be entertaining in less than thirty minutes. Today I had the pleasure to watch a film that felt like it was made specially for me. It had a storyline that harkened back to the days of EC Comics and great practical FX that made me shed a tear they were done so beautifully. The film I speak of is Familiar.
Familiar was Written and Directed by Richard Powell and Produced by Zach Green of FATAL PICTURE. The film starts simple,as did many of the EC comics, but then turns into one hell of a story. Powell weaves a film about a man who has seemingly come to a cross roads in life and can't take the frustration of his wife and child. With the tipping point coming about as the mans wife tells him she is pregnant.
This film is amazing, from the simple plot to the extensive FX I have never felt so fulfilled in such a short period of time. If anyone out there ever has the chance to site down and watch this I suggest that you do it. If you loved Tales From The Crypt (tv show) and its predecessor EC comics, then there is no way that you will be disappointed by this film.
Familiar in my eyes easily lands a 5 out of 5 Parasites. Yes it is that good and you will understand my rating after you see it!
